Jake’s story started as so many of our saves from the shelter have. At the age of 8 years old, Jake was diagnosed with Valley Fever and was endanger of euthanasia at the county shelter.
Seeing his picture on the shelters priority portal (aka euthanasia list) actually brought veteran volunteers to tears and tugged at our heart strings. So, on the day of his deadline, with seconds to spare, LTA scrambled and saved him. And, we all quickly found out how worthy of saving he was.
Since he was saved, Jake has been staying with a foster family which consists of a similar sized dog, small dog, adults, a couple of children and he has flawlessly fit into the (foster) family! Most notably, he has been so gentle and good with the fosters young children, despite being three times their size and twice their age. But, that’s not so surprising since he was found on a playground of a school campus, playing with children when he was a stray. I mean, how cute is that?
Although he does not show any symptoms, Jake does still have detectable Valley Fever (non-contagious to people or pets), which is easily managed with medication. You would never even know Jake has this because he is the happiest dog ever.
Jake is a “once in a lifetime dog” and whoever adopts him with be beyond blessed. His adoption fee includes a completed veterinary exam, neuter, vaccines, dental and microchip.
