Kane was at risk for euthanasia at our county shelter for a double-sided heart murmur that was discovered when they went to neuter him for adoption. So young, energetic and handsome, we just knew this sweet boy's story couldn't end there. We pulled him from the euthanasia list and got to the bottom of what was going on with his heart.
After full diagnostics and echocardiogram, it was discovered that Kane had an open valve in his heart that should have closed as a puppy. Specialists were astounded that he had lived as long as he had because most puppies with his condition don't make it past six months of age. We immediately opted to move forward with the treatment he needed, and Kane went in for an emergency laparoscopic heart operation -- a Patent Ductus Arteriosis Occlusion Closure with one of the best cardiologists in the state.
Since his operation 6 months ago, Kane has been doing SO well. Still his young and energetic self, we put Kane with our professional trainer for two weeks of board and train so he could learn the manners he needed to be the best version of his happy self. He did AMAZING with training and socialization and even became the go-to dog used for play groups and socializing other dogs. Kane now knows all of his obedience commands, such as sit, lay, down, place, recall and, most importantly, he walks beautifully on a leash with no pulling! Much like his heart operation, Kane has crushed it!
Our sweet, happy, energetic, young boy is now ready to find his forever home. We would LOVE to see Kane in an active home with another active dog who would love to romp and play all day. Kane would do best with older children over 13. He would very much enjoy a yard to run around in, daily walks or hikes and even days adventuring at the lake. Kane is crate trained, which is a huge asset! He’s also the perfect gentleman for a friendly dog patio! Kane has impeccable obedience and his family would receive a session with our trainer to continue reinforcing everything he has learned.
Kane’s adoption fee includes his completed veterinary exams, completed board and train program, vaccines, microchip and neuter. If you are ready to add some fun, happy, loving adventure to your life, apply below to meet our heart survivor boy...he will steal your own heart in no time. Promise!
Adoption fee: $350
