Animal Care Specialist
Hourly Wage
Starting at $18/hour
Shifts
Six hour shifts within the hours of 6 am - 8:30 pm, Monday - Sunday
Position Overview
Caring for the animals at our sanctuary requires an incredible amount of compassion, time, and effort. We are looking for team members who are just as committed as we are to saving those lives who are in most critical need. As part of the Animal Care Team, you will be responsible for caring for our animals and maintaining our sanctuary to the highest standards to keep everyone happy and healthy. Our goal is not just to save, shelter and care for homeless animals; we also want to provide our community with highly adoptable pets that will be successful in loving, supportive, and committed homes.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize the sanctuary according to our strict sanitation guidelines and protocols. This includes but is not limited to sanitizing doggy suites, play rooms, yards and other sanctuary spaces, doing laundry, emptying trashes, washing bowls and dishes, etc.
- Feed animals and have complete knowledge of animal feeding procedures including administering medications for our medical needs dogs
- Consider and treat our dogs as one of your own. Each dog that enters our rescue is part of our family for life. All employees (and volunteers) must treat them with the utmost love and respect and handle them safely and with care, always.
- Observe each dog's daily behavior and log medical and behavior notes
- Assist with volunteer and new employee trainings when needed
- Complete other duties as needed
Essential Duties
- Ability to be on your feet for entire scheduled shift
- Lift up to 60 lbs.
